Short answer. Ukraine publishes no single national household stockpile list with set quantities. Official civil-protection guidance centres on the "alarm suitcase" (тривожна валіза): a backpack of at least 30 litres with documents, cash, medicines, water and food 1. A Kyiv district civil-protection department lists drinking water for 1-2 days, food for several days and a week of regular medicines 1.
Is there a national supply list in Ukraine?
No national list with quantities was found on accessible official sites. Ukrainian guidance focuses on a bag you can grab and leave with 1. The most detailed official list we could read comes from the civil-protection department of Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district administration 1. The Kyiv regional directorate of the State Emergency Service (ДСНС) publishes similar advice through the Ministry of Internal Affairs 2.
The State Emergency Service's civil-protection training centre in Kyiv also publishes an alarm-suitcase page, reported to advise three days of long-keeping food that needs no cooking. That site blocks access from outside Ukraine, so we could not read it, and we do not present the three-day figure as confirmed.
How much water and food should I pack?
| Supply | Quantity in the official guidance |
|---|---|
| Drinking water | 1-2 days, renewed periodically 1 |
| Food | Ready-to-eat, compact, long-life food and high-calorie snacks for several days 1 |
| Regular medicines | One week's supply, with dosage and how to take them 1 |
| Backpack | From 30 litres 1 |
The district guidance states it plainly: "Питна вода на 1-2 дні, яку потрібно періодично оновлювати" — drinking water for 1-2 days, to be renewed periodically 1. Food examples include tinned stewed meat (two tins), crackers, soup packets, and tinned meat or fish, with grains or pasta if space allows 1.
For daily water needs per person and how long food keeps, see our guides on water per person and food shelf life.
What else goes in the alarm suitcase?
The district list groups items into a few categories 1:
- Documents and money: copies of passports, driving licence, property and vehicle documents in waterproof packaging, family photos, bank cards and cash. See important documents.
- Communication: a small FM/VHF radio (dynamo models are mentioned), spare batteries, a basic mobile phone with charger, a local map, and an agreed family contact method and meeting place. See emergency radio.
- Light and tools: torches with spare batteries, a waterproof compass and watch, a multitool, knife and hatchet, a whistle or flare, rubbish bags, adhesive tape and cord.
- Health and hygiene: a minimum first-aid set, regular medicines and your doctors' contacts, hygiene items. See first-aid kit.
- Clothing and sleeping: spare clothes for different weather, and optionally a mini tent, foam mat and sleeping bag.
- Cooking: pot, flask, spoon, metal mug, matches and lighter.
The State Emergency Service also advises a carrier and food for pets 2. See our pets guide.
The full list, line by line, is on our kit checklist page.
How does this compare with a 72-hour kit?
Ukraine's district guidance asks for drinking water for 1-2 days but a week of medicines 1. If you want to plan beyond the official minimum, our 72-hour kit guide explains that approach. Keep the Ukrainian list as your reference for what the authorities expect.
