Safe water in Ukraine: notices, drought and what to store

Short answer. Phaenyx found no national list of boil-water or do-not-drink notices in Ukraine. A few utilities publish tap-water quality data on the national open-data portal ¹, and Kyiv lists its public pump rooms (бювети) with water analysis certificates ². One Kyiv district administration, Sviatoshynskyi, lists drinking water for 1-2 days in the alarm suitcase ³. In the median city, drought risk is high ⁴.

How do I know if my tap water is unsafe?

Follow your water utility (водоканал) and your local administration, because instructions to boil water or not to drink it come locally. Phaenyx found no national page or register of boil-water notices to check. Keep a way to receive their messages when the power is out. Some utilities publish quality results. A search of data.gov.ua for "якість питної води" (drinking water quality) returns datasets from a handful of utilities and councils, such as Chernihivvodokanal, Novomoskovsk vodokanal, Ivano-Frankivsk and Dubno, alongside national statistics on the share of non-compliant samples ¹. Coverage is partial: only a handful of places publish ¹.

Where can I get water in Kyiv if the taps stop?

Is Ukraine short of water?

Not overall, but drought is a serious risk.
