Businesses can order tablets via infocrise.lu 1.
How do I get tablets if I have none?
Contact your municipal administration, which is responsible for distributing tablets to its residents 1. The authorities do not plan distribution through pharmacies: "Les autorités luxembourgeoises ne prévoient pas la distribution de comprimés d'iodure stable par les pharmacies" (The Luxembourg authorities do not plan the distribution of stable iodide tablets through pharmacies) 2.
Whether potassium iodide can be bought privately, over the counter or on prescription, is not stated in the official sources Phaenyx read. This page does not say either way.
When should I take them?
Only on the authorities' instruction 13. The decision is taken by the Crisis Cell on the advice of the Radiological Evaluation Cell, when the dose to the thyroid is likely to exceed 50 mSv 13. The tablets protect for 24 hours 1.
When the standby siren sounds (a warbling tone lasting one minute), the brochure asks people to get their iodine tablets ready 3. See Emergency alerts in Luxembourg.
Who should take them, and how much?
Intake is not recommended after age 45, because no benefit has been shown in that age group 12. The dose differs for infants, children and adults: read the package leaflet 12. The Health Directorate publishes a usage leaflet in several languages 2.
