Emergency numbers in Malaysia: 999 and official contacts

In Malaysia, 999 is the free number for police, ambulance, fire and rescue, and civil defence. Plus NADMA, MET, JKM and Atom Malaysia contacts.

Updated 2026-10-20· 6 official sources

Short answer. In Malaysia, 999 is the single free emergency number for police, ambulance (Ministry of Health), fire and rescue, and civil defence (APM) 1. It merged the former 991, 994 and 999 lines on 1 October 2007 1. For disasters, NADMA coordinates response through its National Disaster Control Centre (NDCC) and publishes the numbers of district disaster operations control centres 2.

Which number do I call in an emergency?

Dial 999. One call reaches police, ambulance, fire and rescue, and the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia, APM) 1. The call is free 1.

Some secondary sources say that 112 dialled from a mobile phone redirects to 999. Phaenyx could not confirm this on an official page, so save 999 as your emergency number.
