Chile's official emergency kit list (SENAPRED)

SENAPRED's emergency kit list for Chile, line by line: basic supplies for 72 hours, extended supplies, the pet kit and the car kit.

Updated 2026-10-20· 2 official sources

Short answer. SENAPRED, Chile's national disaster agency, publishes an emergency kit list for 48 to 72 hours of basic supplies 1; its Plan Familia Preparada manual recommends 72 hours of self-sufficiency 2. The core list starts with water, 2 litres per person per day, then light, food that needs no cooking, first aid, a battery radio, cash and document copies 12. The full list follows, line by line.

What about pets?

The Plan Familia Preparada manual adds a pet kit: water and high-calorie food for 48 hours, about 1.5 litres of water, and it says the pet kit should cover at least 7 days of self-sufficiency 2. Prepare one per pet. See our pets guide.

What goes in the car kit?

SENAPRED also lists a car kit: food that keeps without cooking, bottled water, blankets, a change of clothes, a shovel, a fire extinguisher, plastic bags, flashlights, tools and rubber hose, medicines, wet wipes, maps, a copy of the plan and documents, light signals and a first aid kit 12. Our winter car kit guide covers cold-weather additions.

How should you use this list?

SENAPRED gives quantities only for some lines; where it says nothing, size the item to your household. Adapt the kit to the people who live with you, including babies, older adults and people with disabilities, which is why the special needs line exists 12. The kit is one step of the 8-step Plan Familia Preparada, alongside the contact directory and a copy of the family plan 2. Related guides: first-aid kit, important documents, emergency radio, emergency lighting, infant supplies and vulnerable people.
