What emergency supplies does Thailand recommend?

Thai guidance relayed by PRD: a 72-hour survival bag with at least 3 litres of water per person per day. Original page unreadable; still being checked.

Updated 2026-10-20· 2 official sources

Short answer. Thai government guidance relayed by the Government Public Relations Department (PRD), citing the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), is reported to recommend a survival bag (ถุงยังชีพ) for the first 72 hours after a disaster, with at least 3 litres of drinking water per person per day 1. The original page returned an error on 2026-10-20, so these figures are still being checked against it.

Why is this page marked "to be verified"?

Phaenyx publishes only facts read on an official page. Here, two obstacles remain:

  • The PRD checklist page returned a 404 error on 2026-10-20. Its content is known only through a search index; the original was not read 1.
  • The DDPM website blocks automated access, so no DDPM checklist could be consulted directly 2.

Until the list is read at its source, treat it as an indication, not a confirmed official standard. Verify it on the DDPM site or with your local authority.

How long should a Thai household be ready for?

The relayed checklist covers the first 72 hours after a disaster 1; see /guides/72-hour-kit. For a longer horizon, see /guides/two-week-supplies.

How much water per person?

The relayed checklist asks for "น้ำดื่มสะอาด อย่างน้อย 3 ลิตร/คน/วัน" (clean drinking water, at least 3 litres per person per day) 1. For a 72-hour bag, that is at least 9 litres per person. How to store and purify it: /guides/water-per-person, /guides/water-storage-containers, /guides/water-purification.

What goes in the survival bag?

The relayed checklist lists 11 categories, with a quantity only for water 1:

Item Quantity
Clean drinking water at least 3 litres per person per day
Long-life dry food not specified
First aid kit and personal (regular) medication not specified
Hygiene supplies not specified
Flashlight not specified
Radio not specified
Power bank / spare batteries not specified
Personal documents and cash not specified
Whistle not specified
Clothing and sleeping bag not specified
Waterproof bags not specified

The same list, ready to tick off, is on the kit page.

Is there a national preparedness booklet?

No national booklet is sent to Thai households. DDPM runs recurring survival-bag campaigns relayed by PRD; the year of the 72-hour checklist could not be confirmed 1.

Where can I learn more about each item?
