Short answer. Phaenyx found no public register of boil-water or do-not-drink notices in Israel. Follow instructions from the authorities and your water supplier. The Home Front Command asks households to keep bottled water for 72 hours, with no per-person figure 1. Water stress in Israeli cities is "extremely high" 3.

How do I know if my tap water is unsafe?

Phaenyx found no official page or feed that lists current boil-water or do-not-drink notices in Israel.

What you can do: if the authorities or your local water supplier tell you to boil or not to drink the water, follow that instruction. See What to do during a boil-water notice and Do-not-drink notices. How official warnings reach phones and the Home Front Command app is covered on our Israel alerts page.

How much water should I store?

The Home Front Command flyer "A prepared family is a safe family" asks households to prepare equipment that will serve them for 72 hours, including bottled water and food in sealed packaging 1. It gives no litres per person 1. Details are on our Israel emergency supplies page and the official kit list. For the volumes other agencies publish, see How much water to store per person per day? and Water storage containers.

Is Israel short of water?

On natural resources, yes. In WRI's Aqueduct 4.0 model, the population-weighted median of Israeli cities is in the "extremely high" category for current water stress, stays "extremely high" in the 2050 business-as-usual projection, and is "medium to high" for drought risk 3. These are city medians: a given area can sit higher or lower.

The Water Authority publishes daily levels of the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret) since 1966 as open data 2. Its description notes that the lowest level ever recorded, -214.87 m on 29 November 2001, is today also the minimum level set by law 2.

Phaenyx found no official household guidance for drought periods. If supply is cut, a stored supply is the buffer: see No running water at home and Drought preparedness.

Private wells

Phaenyx found no official Israeli guidance for private wells. For general advice, see Private wells in an emergency.

What should I do after a flood?

Follow official instructions on tap water. See Water safety after a flood and How to purify water. A household plan can keep your water stock and emergency contacts in one place.
