Georgia's Emergency Management Service 72-hour bag, line by line: 3 L of water per person per day, food, radio, flashlight, first aid, whistle and more.

Updated 2026-10-20· 2 official sources

Short answer. The official Georgian emergency bag, set by the Emergency Management Service (EMS), holds what you need for the first 72 hours: 3 litres of water per person per day, long-shelf-life food, a radio, a flashlight and a mobile phone (each with a power source), a first-aid kit, a whistle, a pack of dry wipes, a pack of wet wipes, a local map, a compass and rope 1.

What is on the official Georgian list?

The list below follows the EMS booklet Rules of behaviour in emergencies item by item 1. Tick each line as you pack.

  • Water — 3 litres per person per day 1
  • Long-shelf-life food, for example crackers 1
  • Hand-held radio, with its power source 1
  • Flashlight, with its power source 1
  • First-aid kit 1
  • Whistle 1
  • Dry wipes — 1 pack 1
  • Wet wipes — 1 pack 1
  • Local map 1
  • Compass 1
  • Mobile phone, with its power source 1
  • Rope 1

How much water is that for your household?

Household Water for 72 hours (3 L × 3 days)
1 person 9 litres
2 people 18 litres
4 people 36 litres

These totals are simple multiplication of the official 3 L per person per day over the 72-hour period 1.

What should you add yourself?

The EMS list is short and names no quantities beyond water and wipes 1. Some things are personal by nature and no list can supply them for you. The 112 service's flood advice, for example, names medicines and warm clothes among the things to plan to take when evacuating, along with water, food and a backpack 2. Our guides on the first-aid kit, important documents, infant supplies and pets can help you complete the bag for your own household.

How do you keep the kit ready?

Keep it where you can reach it quickly, and know the evacuation plan posted in your building: follow the green lines and do not use the lift 1. Check the power sources of the radio, flashlight and phone, since the list asks for each one with its own source 1. Our food shelf-life guide explains how to rotate food.

What about ready-made kits?

If you consider a ready-made kit, compare it line by line with the EMS list above: the official list is the reference, not any product. Personal items such as medicines, documents and contact details always have to be added by you.
